The greater part of maintaining good health is often preventive. Detecting an illness in its earliest stages may allow for more treatment options and prevent onset of serious complications. Treatment during the early stages of illness is frequently less invasive and may even help reverse the course of disease or allow time for more specialized medical help.

The definition of ‘good health’ differs from person to person, so it is critical that each individual establishes a baseline or foundation for their health, including basic wellness parameters. This information can help us to determine not only the current state of your health, but also patterns that may indicate the direction you health is taking. This pro-active approach allows you to make changes in order to avoid future disease conditions.

Once this is accomplished, we work together with each patient to tailor a Personal Wellness Process to his or her health and lifestyle needs. You become empowered to take control of you health and well-being through a wellness partnership that periodically monitors changes in your physical and emotional progress.

Each Wellness Check-Up includes the following:

  • history and physical
  • blood chemistry
  • ECG (heart function)
  • lung function
  • vascular occlusive screen (arteriosclerosis)
  • osteoporosis screen
  • hormone profiling for women

Recommendations may include:

  • exercise for both musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems
  • dietary changes
  • nutritional supplementation
  • stress management
  • immediate intervention
  • other lifestyle changes

If immediate intervention is required, you may be referred to other medical professionals and/or may benefit from other services provided at the Center for Family Wellness.
